Gord Heisch is a seasoned contractor hailing from New Zealand. He started as a Journeyman Machinist and since leaving New Zealand for Canada in early 1973, became a seasoned carpenter. After becoming a landed immigrant Gord started his contracting firm, Heisch Enterprises Ltd, and since 1979 has garnered a wide reputation as an exceptional builder particularly focussed on high end custom residential and specialized projects.
Lured to Salt Spring Island for a specific project in 2002, Gord settled on the island and has since built some of the most beautiful contemporary projects all over the Gulf Islands of British Columbia.
Gord has worked with some of the best designers, architects and crafts people on the West Coast crafting exquisite projects; notably Grant & Sinclair Architects, Osburn & Clarke Designers, Phillip Van Horn Design and John Dunham of Archeus Architecture.
A man with a strong sense of taste and eye for quality, beauty, practicality and efficiency, Gord now spends his artistic time in his studio rebuilding exceptional vintage sports cars, currently a Jaguar of note. An avid Porche driver, he is often lured to points south along the West Coast to car club meetings and racing cars.
A wealth of expertise and experience mixed with a sense of humour, Gord retired his firm in 2017. He provides specialized construction, buildability, and methods consulting to our practice and our projects.
