Sky scrapers in Chicago

September 29, 2018
As an introduction to Chicago’s skyscrapers one of the River Cruises is definitely the best first day thing to do besides Millennium Park. Not just for buildings but bridges and famous streets and places. There are a number of them, but The Chicago Architecture Center is a really great one for buildings. It is an amazing organization with 450 volunteer docents (tour guides) and incredibly reasonable. The organization had just moved into their new center barely a month when I was there and it is a fantastic space with exhibits. The new center is front and center on the waterfront in The Loop. You can’t miss it, it is across the river from the Apple store.

Without a doubt, the great levelling Chicago Fire, rebuilding, and new elevator and construction technologies that ensued in Chicago, made it the birth place of the Sky Scraper.
